【Using third-party data to guide the exploration of university institutional decision-making analysis.】

This article discusses how universities have actively engaged in the field of Institutional Research (IR) in recent years. Through scientific statistical methods and data analysis, they extract visualized results from a vast amount of data to assess the strengths and areas for improvement of the institution. This process aids in formulating future directions and addressing current challenges faced by the university. Additionally, the article emphasizes the use of third-party objective data to analyze the current state of affairs in academia, identifying the context of the institution's development and exploring appropriate decision-making and implementation methods.

The article points out the emphasis placed by universities on domestic and international rankings, particularly with the growing focus on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the increasing importance of Impact Rankings. These rankings consider various aspects such as academic performance, industry influence, teaching quality, and contributions to society and the international community, using third-party data analysis rules to rank the performance of institutions. Notable ranking institutions include QS (Quacquarelli Symonds, QS) and Times Higher Education (THE) in the UK, as well as domestic rankings published by renowned media companies such as "CommonWealth Magazine," "Cheers," and " Global Views Monthly."

Given the impact of the declining birth rate on enrollment rates, the article recommends that schools use student source analysis as a basis for developing enrollment strategies. Encouraging teachers to engage in SDGs-related research and promoting local and international practices can enhance the institution's international performance. Furthermore, declaring commitments to achieving net-zero carbon emissions is an essential means for schools to enhance their reputation. The academic research achievements of teachers are also crucial indicators of the institution's international influence, and the article suggests revising the reward system for research outcomes to encourage academic accomplishments.

Lastly, the article mentions the "Taiwan Institutional Research Cooperation" by the Taiwan Assessment and Evaluation Association (TWAEA), which provides various IR analysis reports to assist schools in formulating their institutional development strategies. However, it emphasizes that schools should conduct rational evaluations based on their own attributes when devising strategies and finding appropriate directions to overcome difficulties. As the digital age approaches, data analysis has become a crucial basis for decision-making in various institutions, including governance in academia.
