REDISCOVERING INSIGHTS: REFLECTIONS ON RE-READING DR. PAUL S.C. HSU'S "MICHELIN, THE POLAR MARATHON, AND AACSB"
Revisiting Dr. Paul S.C. Hsu’s 2011 article “Michelin, Polar Marathon, and AACSB,” this article reflects on the deeper meaning of branding in education. A true brand is not merely a name, label, or marketing expression; rather, it is built upon long-term trust, clear standards, and a value commitment that society can recognize and understand. Drawing on Taiwan’s 2026 AI Talent Ark initiative, the article emphasizes that AI education should not be measured only by investment in infrastructure, platforms, or equipment. Its real value lies in whether it can establish sustainable teaching support, strengthen teachers’ professional capacity, verify learning outcomes, and make educational data meaningful for improving practice. From the perspective of higher education quality assurance, evaluation and accreditation should help institutions articulate what kinds of talents they aim to cultivate, how they fulfill this commitment, and how their educational quality can be demonstrated and trusted.
